Kathmandu, December 15, 2024 — The recently concluded Himalayan International Transplant Conference 2024, held on December 14-15 at The Everest Hotel in Kathmandu, marked a pivotal moment in advancing organ transplantation and donation across developing nations. Organized by the Transplant Community of Nepal under the theme “Promoting Organ Donation in the Developing World,” the event brought together global healthcare leaders and experts from Nepal, the USA, the UK, India, and Bangladesh.

Dr. Pukar Chandra Shrestha, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, highlighted Nepal’s aspiration to become a regional hub for organ transplantation. “By focusing on strategic investments and regional collaboration, Nepal has the potential to emerge as a center of excellence for organ transplantation, offering sustainable and accessible solutions to South Asia,” he stated.

Experts from the USA and UK offered insights into leveraging advanced medical technologies to enhance transplant outcomes, emphasizing the importance of knowledge transfer to developing countries.
